Last Descent by Zeeclaw Last Descent by Zeeclaw
Always wanted to draw a sci fi ship from my own imagination. My last attempt at drawing something completely original from my mind (pertaining to sci fi ships) ended up as a utter disaster [link] >_<. This time around I got enough confidence over the year to give it another go :).

"While on a daily balloon trip, Twilight and her friends are blown of course by some ferocious winds. They only regain their senses to deafening roars of thunder and blinding flashes of light. Towering past their balloon, Twilight and her friends watch in awe as a ship forged for wars among the stars... descends upon the earth"

Edit: Just to avoid some confusion, those large energy producing objects are not engines but are long range energy weapons.

Homeworld the game 3D space RTS. Taidani ion cannon destroyer. You're design is rounder and larger, but the attenae and obviously the main weapons remind me of it.

I really like this. :D I think the use of non-black lines really helped this piece out. The lighting from those laser things is also really well done.

Thanks! Been playing around more with lighting these days. I used to be so afraid of lighting and especially colour. Now its just becoming more and more fun. I see you got new stuff as well :D !

Ahh so that is the guy who drew a good portion of my childhood sci fi ships. When I was like 7 years old, I stumbled upon this book that contained all the various sci fi ship artists of the 80s and early 90s. I was entranced by the worlds and vessels that they painted, and wanted to do something like that as well. Haha.. needless to say, the drawing abilities of a 7 year old weren't the best. But thanks for giving me the name of Peter Elson, thought I would never see those ships again.

... Huh. This makes me REALLY feel like getting back to finishing my own fictional work. The USG Ishimura just crashed in to the Everfree Forest.

I once planned a Human insertion story in my head that starts off almost like this, but never worked it out. Believe me, if someone actually manage to write a complete fanfic that starts off like this it would be the most epic thing EVER.

The only reason this is pony, is because of that tiny balloon. I love it.

Assuming the bow of the vessel is in the foreground, the positioning of the engines is rather odd.
Other than that, great work.

I though that was the stern in the foreground, those look like motion lines behind it. Strangely jagged motion lines, but I'm not sure what else they could be. Of course, if that IS the stern, and the vessel is descending towards the ground like it says in the description, then Twilight's hot-air balloon is completely sideways and Twilight should be falling out... So either way, something weird is going on. :O_o:

Might be confusing since those are actually long range beam weapons, then engines. The engines are actually behind the ship. Should've made it more clearer.

I like ARTICLE 2, but From Skies Above is much more interesting to me because of it's larger scale. The crashed ship in this one had a black box that automatically started broadcasting an SOS signal into hyperspace, complete with coordinates. Earth's military is aware of Equestria's location now (they exist as two separate planets in the same universe in this fic, instead of ARTICLE 2's separate universes), and did not take long to show up, and it's a much messier First Contact scenario.

I've been reading all of them.

I have to say I like ARTICLE 2, for it's pony/human interactions, but I like From Skies Above for it's pony/human/griffon conflict.

And then, a mechanical chorus sounded from inside and then out. From barely audible noises to an epic battle cry. Exterminate! EXTERMINATE! Exterminate!! EXTERMINATE!!!

Or From Skies Above [link]. I prefer this one to Thessalonica Legacy (linked by the guy before me) because the occupants of the crashed space vessel act much more realistically for a group of people crash landing on an alien planet - afraid, confused, and quick to shoot before asking questions considering what's going on around them. It is NOT a pleasant First Contact, made less so by the Griffon Tribes and Equestria warring over the rights to the crashed vessel (not realizing it's occupants survived the crash).
